Hi, I’m Mathew and welcome! I’m 29 years old and I’m a life-long fan of metal music. If you walked past me on the street, you probably wouldn’t know it, but my love for metal runs very deep. The first distinct memory of metal I have was when my dad made me a cassette tape that included Rob Halford’s band, Fight*. I was about 8 years old at the time. At my first concert in 2003, I saw Anthrax and Motorhead at 1st Avenue in Minneapolis, MN. I was 12 years old. I do not own or listen to music outside of the spectrum of metal and some might say that my taste in music is too narrow. I disagree. Metal, in and of itself, has a wide array of genres so I argue my taste is wide ranging (within the scope of metal, of course). My personal spectrum runs from hard rock/old school metal (i.e. Rainbow, Black Sabbath) to thrash (i.e. Slayer, Overkill) to some pockets of metal core (Trivium, Bring Me the Horizon) and many things in between. To give you a general idea of my focus as I get this blog off the ground, here are some of the bands I’ve been listening to recently:

My hope for this blog is to be just one of many voices promoting the metal community. Heavy Metal is a big part of my life and I feel I owe the hardworking bands and crews at least that much. So please join me in keeping the metal community and metal culture alive and thriving!
