The start of August has come with a slew of new metal music, and videos to accompany that music. We’ve narrowed on our three favorites this week to highlight.
New GOJIRA Song and Video
Last week, French metal band GOJIRA debuted a new standalone single and music video “Another World”. It is their first new material in four years. The track itself is okay, not great. The subject matter is certainly inspired by the events of 2020 and the accompanying video tells a powerful message with great animation. In other words, the music is at least worth a listen, the video makes it a must watch.
ARMORED SAINT – First New Music in 5 Years
ARMORED SAINT’s follow-up album to 2015’s Win Hands Down looks to be a return-to-form of sorts for the band. At least the first single “End of the Attention Span” gives that indication. The song feels fresh, modern, but still sounds like classic ARMORED SAINT. At 56 years old, Josh Bush‘s vocals never seem to age and he continues to be in top form here. Their full-album Punching the Sky is available October 23rd.
VICIOUS RUMORS – Second Video Off Upcoming Album
The origin of American metal band, VICIOUS RUMORS, goes back to 1979. While, the band is long beyond their peak (which came in the late 80s and early 90s with vocalist Carl Albert), it has continued on in one form or another, lead by founder and guitarist Geoff Thorpe. Their latest album Celebration Decay will be available on August 19th and two singles/videos from the album are now available. The first, “Death Eternal” is a pretty forgettable tune. However, the second track, “Pulse of the Dead”, feels livelier, catchier, and is good for a little headbanging.
