Quarantine Binge-Listen: 40 Metal Albums with No Bad Songs

Among the Living (1987) – ANTHRAX

The #20 entry on Rolling Stone’s all-time list comes from New York’s thrash icons ANTHRAX. The album showcases technical prowess and the band’s most memorable line-up at it’s most cohesive and confident.

Genre: Thrash Metal

Hall of the Mountain King (1987) – SAVATAGE

The group that eventually became TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA released their most consistent effort to date with 1987’s Hall of the Mountain King. SAVATAGE perfected their unique sound with this album and each song is a joy to listen to.

Genre: Power Metal/Progressive Metal

…And Justice For All (1988) – METALLICA

METALLICA’s follow-up to 1986’s Master of Puppets is often criticized for it’s sound mix – essentially removing any bass from the album. Nonetheless, the album is critically acclaimed by music critics, and deservedly so. Its easy to listen to the entire album start to finish and completely lose track of time.

Genre: Thrash Metal/Progressive Metal

The New Order (1988) – TESTAMENT

The album that put TESTAMENT in the thrash metal mainstream (and in the same conversation as METALLICA, MEGADETH, and SLAYER) is also deemed one of the ’14 thrash albums you need to own’, by Revolver.

Genre: Thrash Metal

Operation Mindcrime (1988) – QUEENSRYCHE

Arguably QUEENSRYCHE’s magnum-opus, Operation Mindcrime is a concept album that captivates from start to finish, even if metal music isn’t really your thing.

Genre: Progressive Metal/Hard Rock/Power Metal
