QUICK BIO

STRIKER is a Canadian metal band from Edmonton, Alberta. Led by vocalist Dan Cleary, the group originally formed in 2007. Their early material had a sound that was more influenced by old school thrash, but more recent material has leaned towards a melodic metal sound. The group inked a deal with Napalm Records for two albums but more recently have gone independent, releasing records on their own label. Their latest album Play to Win even won the Juno Award (Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys) for “Heavy Metal Album of the Year” in 2020.

HOW THEY GOT ON OUR RADAR

The “City of Gold” track was a recommended video on YouTube for one of our writers. The album art was the attention grabber, but the song is also a standout. That led us down the rabbit hole of the entire STRIKER discography. Somehow, for 13 years the band’s existence escaped us, so we are ensuring our readers know about them as well. Thanks YouTube!

We also quickly found the groups award-winning Play to Win album. Our introduction was the track “Summoner” below.
