HISTORY

- The term took it’s current meaning in the mid 1990s
- It is a combination of various heavy metal and hardcore punk elements
- SEPULTURA has been credited to lay the foundation for the genre
- Where it is today
- Many metalcore bands are combining screaming and clean vocals
- The genre has had some over-saturation issues in recent years
- A number of bands that began here have shifted their sound away from metalcore (i.e. BRING ME THE HORIZON, TRIVIUM)
