HISTORY
  • Where it came from
    • The term took it’s current meaning in the mid 1990s
    • It is a combination of various heavy metal and hardcore punk elements
    • SEPULTURA has been credited to lay the foundation for the genre
  • Where it is today
    • Many metalcore bands are combining screaming and clean vocals
    • The genre has had some over-saturation issues in recent years
    • A number of bands that began here have shifted their sound away from metalcore (i.e. BRING ME THE HORIZON, TRIVIUM)
